iRAIN is a disruptive project that combines wastewater regeneration with monitoring and AI technologies for precision agriculture. Its ambition: to transform treated wastewater into a safe resource for irrigation, optimizing nutrients and reducing water stress.
The system combines data from satellites, drones, agricultural robots, sensors, and multispectral cameras to merge information and make smart decisions about the use of reclaimed water in crops.
Wastewater reuse requires producing water of sufficient quality for irrigation.
RAIN proposes hybrid tools: advanced wastewater regeneration, nutrient recovery, continuous monitoring of water and crop conditions, and an AI system that optimizes when and how much to irrigate, integrating environmental data (soil sensors, weather, satellites, drones, robots). This approach allows for efficient water reuse, reducing waste, improving productivity, and adapting to climate change.
The model is being validated in a real-world precision agriculture environment.
Smarter management of reclaimed water is expected, with greater profitability and efficient use of natural resources.
By combining AI and regeneration, a new paradigm for water resilience is provided.
